Mercedes-Benz India has said that it is now demanding a larger share of A-Class hatchback and the diesel B-Class tourer thanks to a record demand from the Indian market. The cars were launched here on May 30 and July 11th respectively. They are currently produced at the German automaker’s facility in Rastatt, Germany are brought here as CBUs.
The company has said that it was initially it was doubtful about the success of launching such models in the Indian market but going by the current demand, they feel that the Indian car buyer is ready for such vehicles. It is believed that the global demand for the both models is quite high and that India is likely to feature high on the list due to it being a strategically important emerging market.
The company is also likely to make a decision on assembling the A-Class and B-Class locally once the expansion work at its Chakan plant is completed by the end of the year. The A-Class and B-Class are expected to be joined by the CLA sedan and the GLA compact SUV by the middle of next year.
