Mercedes-Benz India recently concluded the second season of its ‘Young Star Driver Programme’ Season II which witnessed young racing aspirants from across India showcasing their raw talent, on the Buddh International Circuit. The second season was won by Raj Bharath (Bengaluru), G Vikash Anand (Chennai) and Ali Yawar Hayat (Bengaluru).
Mercedes-Benz India received 5,970 applications from young aspiring racing talents from across 100 Indian cities and towns. The programme witnessed a near 100 per cent surge in registrations from season one.
Commenting on the conclusion of the second season, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO said, “The winners of the ‘Mercedes-Benz Young Star Driver Programme Season II’ will earn global exposure by working with the best talents from international racing circuit. They will also learn the finer nuances of improving their racing skills on international racing tracks under the guidance of globally distinguished trainers. This exposure will be of much significance to the young talents in their path to becoming successful motorsports professionals, at the same time inspiring thousands of young minds who dream of a racing career in motorsports.”
The winner will get a seat in the AMG Driving Academy pro-Training in Germany while the runners-up will get a chance to participate in the AMG Driving Academy basic and advanced course in India. The winner also gets a chance to meet F1 racing stars and Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula One team drivers, Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg, at the 2014 Singapore Grand Prix this year.
The finals of the Young Star Driver programme Season II was flagged off by Eberhard Kern, , Mercedes-Benz India and Vicky Chandhok, one of India’s most renowned racing personalities. The participants were tested for their skills in the recently launched Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG.
