Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has announced that the S400L hybrid and the E300 BlueTec hybrid, both locally-assembled, have received an extension on import duty and excise tax exemptions.
“We are delighted to have been granted an extension on duty exemptions and can continue to offer our Malaysian customers with leading hybrid and energy efficient vehicles (EEV) at attractive prices. The locally produced hybrids are a testament to the close cooperation between Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and our local automotive stakeholders, in terms of both product and technological know-how,” said MBM president and CEO, Dr Claus Weidner.
MBM’s vice president of passenger cars sales and marketing, Mark Raine commented, “Given the success we have seen with the Mercedes-Benz hybrids and our quest to contribute towards making Malaysia a hub for EEVs, we are always examining the possibility of expanding our range of vehicles in this country.”
“We will not increase the prices across the model range at the start of 2016 but will continue to monitor all influencing factors,” he added. Nevertheless, despite the import duty and excise tax exemptions, the price of the S400L hybrid has been increased by RM15,000 (Rs 2.29 lakh). On the other hand, the price for the E300 BlueTec Hybrid remains unchanged along with the rest of the Mercedes-Benz lineup.
