Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLA-Class in Malaysia starting at Rs 44.09 lakh (RM 2,38,888). The German carmaker has launched the GLA in three variants – GLA 200, GLA 250 4Matic and the hot GLA 45 AMG.
Unlike in India, Mercedes has launched the AMG variant along with the standard models. The GLA 200 gets a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 156bhp and 250Nm of torque. The GLA 250 is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine that makes 211bhp and 350Nm of torque. Both variants get a 7-G DCT dual-clutch automatic gearbox, with the GLA 250 getting four-wheel-drive.
The top-of-the-line GLA 45 AMG with its 2.0-litre powertrain made by AMG spits out 355bhp and 450Nm of torque and works in tandem with a seven-speed AMG speedshift DCT gearbox powering all four wheels.
Mercedes-Benz launched the GLA-Class, in India, on September 30, 2014 and immediately followed it up by launching the hot GLA 45 AMG a month later. The GLA is available in diesel and petrol in India, unlike the petrol only models for Malaysia.
