Mercedes-Benz had announced its plans to launch 12 new models in India this year. As part of its plans, the German automaker will be launching the GLS in India on May 18. Popularly known as the S-Class of SUVs, the seven-seat premium SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore (Ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLS is expected to offer four engine options. The GLS550 4Matic with V8 biturbo engine puts out 443bhp of power and 700Nm of torque while the GLS450 4MATIC will get a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine which puts out 357bhp of power and 760Nm of torque. The GLS350d 4MATIC on the other hand also gets a V6 diesel engine which puts out 252bhp of power and 617Nm of torque, while the top-of-the-range Mercedes-AMG GLS63 puts out 569bhp of power and 760Nm of torque.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLS will carry premium interior upholstery and the latest infotainment system. The company known for its high safety standards will offer the GLS with safety features pre-safe system, brake assist, electronic all- wheel drive traction system 4ETS, ESP, and cruise control. As for the exterior, we expect a tweaked front with generous amounts of chrome. Detailed report on the GLS will be available post its launch in India.
