The unveiling of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE is still a week away, meanwhile images of the SUV have been leaked on the internet. The car will be officially unveiled at the New York Motor Show.
At first glance the frontal styling looks similar to the recently introduced GLE Coupe. It features similar design to the outgoing ML-Class, but the changes at the front are significant. The grille, headlights, bumper and bonnet are new. At the rear, the tail lamps, bumper and exhaust tips are new.
A new steering wheel, reworked centre console mark the changes inside. However, there is a large standalone central display screen, expect it to get new-gen COMAND infotainment system.
Power will come from a range of four engines two petrol - 3.0-litre V6 and 4.7-litre V8 and two diesel – 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel and a 3.0-litre V6. Well, there will also be a plug-in hybrid variant with a 3.0-litre V6 engine with 328bhp on tap that works in tandem with an electric motor in the GLE500e 4MATIC. The AMG-spec car will get the familiar 5.5-litre V8 engine that will be available in two states of tune - 550bhp and 577bhp.
The car will be officially unveiled at the New York Auto Show to be held on April 1, 2015. We expect the GLE to be one of the 15 models that Mercedes will launch this year.
