Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLE SUV on October 14 for the Indian market. The new SUV is basically a facelifted version of the M-Class and will replace its elder sibling. It will be the 13th out of the 15 cars to be launched by the German manufacturer in India. Let us have a look at the details of the car through these pictures.
The fascia of the GLE is completely updated and in-line with Mercedes-Benz’s latest design language. The front three-quarter profile looks stunning.
The pinned-back headlights with projector lamps look striking. They also house the daylight running lamps (DRLs).
The basic dimensions and design lines of the car remain similar to those of the outgoing M-Class. However, the new GLE looks sportier and has outgrown its older skin.
The rear boasts of a re-profiled bumper set with dual exhaust tips. The ML styling cues continue with the slab-sided tailgate and the signature wrap-around rear-quarter window.
The rear also features the wrap-around tail lamps that look sleeker than the previous ones. This cluster is redesigned with LEDs.
The GLE’s cabin features a new three-spoke steering wheel, a new central information console and a 7.0-inch COMAND display unit with high definition touchscreen.
Depending on which model is chosen, systems such as Airmatic air suspension, active curve, and agility control are either standard or optional.
One of the major changes on the GLE is the nine-speed automatic gearbox which will replace the seven-speed one. This is the first time the Indian market will get this transmission.
Petrol and hybrid versions are offered globally, but India will get the diesel variant of the car. These include two CDI engine options, a 2.1-litre motor and a more powerful 3.0-litre V6 mill.
