Mercedes-Benz has begun bookings for the GLE-Class SUV in India. Dealers have begun the process by taking Rs three lakh as the down payment for the SUV. We believe that it will launch within the next two months.
The GLE-Class is in essence a facelift of the current ML-Class but now has a revised fascia and interior design more in line with the German automaker’s design philosophy. The GLE-Class gets a cabin design that is basically an evolution of the current car’s cabin but now includes all the latest features and design elements from the three-pointed star.
On the engine front, the GLE-Class will most likely be offered in two diesel variants - the GLE250 d 4MATIC and the GLE350 d 4MATIC. The former is a 2.1-litre unit that produces 203bhp while the latter is the 3.0-litre V6 diesel that produces 255bhp.
The GLE-Class will be the first vehicle with the automaker’s new naming convention to the hit the Indian market. It is expected to be priced marginally higher than the outgoing ML-Class model.
