Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLE 450 AMG for Rs 86.40 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) today. This CBU AMG coupe is the first of the 12 cars the company has lined up for 2016 in India.In terms of styling, this beast is basically a cross between an SUV and a coupe. The front shares the design language of the new Mercedes portfolio, with bold creases on the bonnet, LED headamps with adaptive high beam, split grille and bright arc-shaped DRLs. With the AMG badging, the car gets a performance body kit including an aggressive looking front bumper with air intake ducts, side skirts and a rear bumper with quad exhaust tips. The car will be available in black, white, red, grey or blue.The inside of the GLE 450 AMG is typical Mercedes-Benz luxury but, since this is an AMG, it features sports seats and Nappa leather, sports steering wheel and trim elements in an aluminium finish. It also has brushed stainless steel sports pedals adding to the AMG feel. The car also has an optional AMG carbon-fibre trim and piano trim package. The interior colour options are black, grey or beige. In terms of power, it will be powered by the 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine tuned for 362bhp and 516Nm of torque. The GLE coupe, with this setup, can get to 100kmph in 5.6 seconds with power delivered by the nine-speed dual-clutch transmission to the AWD system. It will also feature five driving modes - individual, sport, sport plus, comfort and snow.Bookings for the GLE 450 AMG are open, deliveries will begin today. It will likely take on the BMW X6M in India.
