What you see here are the very first shots of the hottest AMG-fettled version of the Mercedes GLC, the GLC 63 AMG. The latter is a high-performance model based on the regular car that was unveiled globally in mid-2015. In essence, the GLC is the latest generation of the GLK-Class but gets the GLC name thanks to its close association with the C-Class, as per Mercedes’ new naming and model convention.
Coming back to the hot GLC 63 AMG, the sporty crossover will be powered by Mercedes’ new 4-litre V8 bi-turbo from the C63 AMG sedan. The engine will be offered in either the standard 476bhp or in the more power 510bhp guise in the form of the GLC 63 AMG S.
Mercedes has another high-power version of the GLC called the GLC 43 AMG. Shown earlier at the New York Motor Show, the GLC 43 is powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 362bhp and 520Nm of torque. As for the top-of-the-line GLC 63 AMG, expect this high-performance crossover to go on sale in Europe sometime next year.
