Mercedes-Benz is testing a new SUV for its line-up which has been spied doing the rounds in the snow for the first time. It is expected to be called the GLB and will be an alternative to the B-Class MPV but positioned above the GLA in their line-up.
Our spy masters say that this vehicle will be around 4.6-meters, making it possible to have a seven-seat version as well as five-seat version with a big roomy boot. It will make use of the same MFA2 platform used in the German automaker’s entry-level models and thus also get their range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
The pictures reveal that GLB will play it safe in terms of design and in production guise, it will take after the GLE and GLS in terms bodylines and styling elements. However, don’t expect a coupe-SUV version as that place is already occupied by the GLA.
In the larger scheme of things, the GLB will rival the same range of vehicles that the GLA takes on and be offered as a secondary model in the price range. It is too early to think of this car for India but there is potential for such a car in India due to its expected seven-seat nature.
