Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLA45 AMG 4MATIC in India for Rs 69.60 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). It is a performance version of the GLA crossover and is the eighth AMG spec model to be launched in India since January 2013.
The GLA 45 AMG, as the name suggests, is a performance version of the GLA-Class crossover. The fascia of the GLA 45 AMG 4MATIC is the same as the other AMG versions of the MFA platform cars models as it gets the Avantgarde grille, projector headlamps, sporty bumper and aggressive lines on the bonnet.
The side profile remains the same as its standard sibling but now includes large 18-inch wheels and flared wheel arches which give the car a squat stance. It also appears that the roofline has been reduced slightly to keep in line with the sporty stance.
The rear now gets an AMG- spec rear diffuser with quad exhausts and carbon fibre surrounds. The tail lamps and boot door design have been retained from the standard car but now there is AMG badging in place of where the version name would normally appear.
On the interior front, the car gets all the standard equipment from the GLA-Class but sticking to the AMG legacy, the automaker has equipped the car with AMG specific seats and instrument cluster. The AMG badging and red seat belts differentiate this car from the standard CLA. There are also other small sporty touches like red stitching for the seats and AMG motif on the headrests.
While the look is unique, what the GLA 45 AMG 4MATIC shares with its other siblings is its penchant to excite the driver from the engine bay. The power plant under the hood is the 2.0-litre turbo charged direct injection four-cylinder mill that produces 355bhp and 450Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four-wheels via a seven-speed AMG speed shift unit and the German automaker’s 4MATIC AWD system. In terms of performance, 0-100kmph gets done in 4.8 seconds with the car then going on to hit a top-speed of 250kmph.
