This GL63 AMG launch by Mercedes will see the German automaker introduce to India its fifth product from the AMG line-up. Before this we have seen the C63, G63, E63 and the SLK 55 from the AMG stable. Considered to be the most premium SUV from the carmaker, the GL63 AMG will be launched at an event in Mumbai tomorrow.
The seven-seater vehicle borrows a lot of its styling details from the GL-Class SUV. The AMG quad-tailpipes get chrome accents. Inside the cabin, the car boasts of sporty new seats, and AMG steering wheel and another feature named Active Curve Control. This feature, offered as standard, enables the driver to take corners effectively while keeping the vehicle stable.
Under the hood pulses an AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine, which develops a peak output of 557hp and maximum torque of 760Nm. The GL does the 0-100kmph dash in 4.6 seconds. It takes help from the seven-speed 7G-Tronic AMG automatic gearbox.
We expect the car to come with a price tag of more than Rs 1 crore and unlike the GL-Class which is manufactured at its local facility in Pune, this will be a CBU vehicle. It will go up against the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and the Range Rover.
