Mercedes-Benz has launched the most powerful version of the G-Class in India, the G63 AMG, for Rs 1.46 Crore (ex-showroom Mumbai). This model was unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show last year and replaces the G55 AMG in India.
The G63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 developing 549bhp – that is 30bhp more than the outgoing G55, along with meaty 780Nm of torque. The power is delivered to all four wheels through 7G-Tronic gearbox, propelling this 2.5 ton machine from stand still to 100kph in 5.4 seconds.
There are also a few cosmetic changes to the G-Wagon. The front grille is updated, along with the front bumper. The G63 also gets Ed headlights and new AMG alloy-wheels with red brake calipers. The other interesting feature of the SUV is the side exhaust with tail-pipes sitting just below the rear-doors on each side. The additions to the inside include new TFT screen with Comand system, new leather upholstery, Blind-Spot Assist, Parktronic and Adaptive Cruise Control.
