- Is the carmaker's first entry-level electric
- Will boast more than 500km of driving range
Introduction
Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch its entry-level EQA electric SUV in India on 8 July, 2024. This will be the first of the three product launches planned by the luxury car manufacturer in the country. Here's all that we can expect from the EV.
Exterior
The EQA has a design similar to that of its larger siblings in the carmaker's portfolio. Up front, the black panel surface features a star pattern and a light band connects the DRLS of the headlamps. It boasts high-performance LED headlights with adaptive high beam assist. It is also equipped with an AMG Line exterior package with the wheel arches cladding painted in the colour of the body. The EQA rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. However, the AMG Line trim brings AMG-specific body styling with 20-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
Even inside, in line with the AMG Line trim, the EQA is equipped with 'AMG' floor mats, aluminium trim, sports seats, door sills illuminated with 'EQA' lettering, galvanised paddle shifters, and pedals with unique rubber studs. Moreover, the EQA gets a seat comfort package with a four-way lumbar support for front seats, heated front seats, multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and a parking package with a reverse camera.
Powertrain
The Mercedes-Benz EQA is available in three trims in the global market with up to 560km (WLTP-claimed) of range on a single charge. The EQA 300 4MATIC version and EQA 350 4MATIC trim boast dual-motor setups producing 227bhp and 291bhp, respectively. On the other hand, the base trim EQA 250 that produces 188bhp is propelled by a front-wheel drive system. There is no confirmation yet, but the carmaker might introduce the range-topping variants in India. In terms of the battery pack, the EQA packs a 66.5kWh battery that supports up to 100kW DC on-board charger. This allows a 10 to 80 per cent top-up in just 40 minutes. Meanwhile, the 11kW wall box does 10 to 100 per cent in five hours and 45 minutes.
Launch timeline and competition
The Mercedes-Benz EQA is expected to be priced at around Rs. 65 lakh (ex-showroom). It will then compete with the BMW iX1, Kia EV6, and the Volvo XC40 Recharge in the Indian market.
