We define extreme performance as having a fast and good handling car or at least a vehicle that can do one of the two. However, for the Germans, who are responsible for masters of speed like BMW, AMG, Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher, the term extreme performance is just an excuse to make fast and extremely powerful cars even faster and more powerful. None is more so prominent in this light than the Brabus who have now taken the E63 AMG Estate and turned it into the Brabus 850 6.0-litre Biturbo.
In typical Brabus fashion, the German super tuner has increased the engine displacement from 5.5-litres to 6.0-litres while giving it custom turbo that has bigger compressors and specially made exhaust manifold. The result of this modification is that the ‘standard’ engine’s 585bhp and 800Nm of torque have been increased to 850bhp (hence the name) and 1450Nm of torque which has been electronically limited to 1,150Nm to increase the life of the engine.
The company says that the Brabus package can be applied to RWD and 4MATIC models. Thanks to the increased performance, the Brabus 850 can do 0-100kmph in just 3.1 seconds and then go on to hit a top speed of 300kmph on standard tyres and 350kmph on specially selected high performance tyres. To match the mind-numbing performance, Brabus is also offering carbon fibre body parts, sports exhaust, 20-inch wheels and some modifications to the interiors to keep the car in line with Brabus’s styling requirements.
