Mercedes-Benz always sets the bar higher with each product they launch. This time too, they have done it with the new E-Class. However, this time they have brought the E-Class LWB or the stretched version of the luxury saloon to India, keeping in mind that many of these cars are chauffeur driven. We have driven the car and we are mightily impressed. Take a look at the details through this picture gallery.
For the 2017 E-Class, Mercedes has followed the same design language as the current S-Class and C-Class sedans. So the E-Class gets the familiar front end with a slightly protruding front grille.
It is for the first time for the Indian market that we will get the long wheelbase version of the E-Class. The design is largely the same as the short wheelbase model.
And like the exteriors, the interior design also heavily borrows traits from the S-Class. There's a fully digital instrument cluster along with a touchscreen system for the COMAND interface.
The interior is even more luxuriously appointed this time. The carmaker has made use of fine wood grain in the dashboard.
The fresh interior design gets an ambient lighting system. This makes sure the occupants can choose from 64 different colours and shades according to their mood.
The most interesting part is the rear seat of this elongated saloon. It makes it an ideal place for those who prefer being chauffeur driven.
There are two optional 12.3inch LCD screens in the rear seat to take care of the infotainment needs of the rear occupants.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be offered with a diesel and a petrol engine option. The two variants on offer will be – E200 and E350d at the time of launch on February 28.
There will be a 2.0-litre turbo petrol producing 181bhp and 300Nm, while the oil-burner gets the 3.0-litre diesel churning out 254bhp and 620Nm. Both engines come mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
