Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the most versatile car in the German manufacturer’s line-up. The E-Class is now available in five body styles – Saloon, Estate, Coupe, Cabriolet and the recently introduced All-Terrain. The E-Class Saloon is in its fifth generation now. The Coupe, however, was due for an update and is now teased ahead of its launch on December 14.
The teaser video reveals quite a few details of the Coupe. The most fascinating of which is the new tail-lamp design which now incorporates what the company calls ‘star-dust effect’, which was previously seen on the E-Class Saloon. The headlamp doesn’t stay gloomy either, with projectors and DRLs in a newly designed unit. On the inside, there are turbine-style air vents dominating the centre console and an attached infotainment screen with the instrument cluster.
The E-Class Coupe was spotted testing a few days back along with the Cabriolet. The E-Class Cabriolet will come in later. The new Coupe is also expected to receive a full-blown AMG treatment for the first time. Based on the MRA rear-wheel-drive modular architecture, the Coupe will have a roomier interior and a practical boot. The engine options will remain same as the E-Class Sedan. The 3.0-litre inline-six engine or the four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines will power the new E-Class Coupe.
The E-Class Coupe will slot in between the C-Class Coupe and S-Class Coupe. Following the global unveiling on Wednesday, the E-Class Coupe will be showcased at the 2017 Detroit Motor show. The new Coupe will make its way to India only after the new E-Class Saloon is introduced sometime next year.
