Mercedes-Benz has launched the E-Class Cabriolet for Rs 78.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It was launched globally last year and is brought to the Indian market via the CBU route.
The most eye-catching car at the launch undoubtedly had to be the E400 Cabriolet with the open-top. The E-Class convertible is one car that many fans would like to drive with the top down. This car with the three-pointed star gets an exterior that reminds one of the E63 AMG, and the sporty character is further enhanced by the large 18-inch wheels. It’s party piece is the fully automatic soft top that can fold and unfold completely in 20 seconds and is available in four colours-blue, red, black and brown.
The interior is very similar to that of the E-Class sedan and has pretty much the same feature list and layout. It also features a wide range of wooden and leather options under the purview of Mercedes-Benz's personalisation program. Some of the newer features in the car include ambient lighting in three shades, command online with 360 degree camera and 8 airbags. This also one of the first vehicles to introduce cloud based access to various Mercedes-Benz mobile apps.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet is available only in the petrol trim. The E400 variant is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine, which churns out 328bhp of power and 480Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to a 7G-Tronic plus seven-speed automatic gearbox. The E400 Cabriolet is capable of doing the 0-100kmph sprint in 5.3 seconds, and achieving an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
The E400 Cabriolet acts as another option amongst the few convertible cars which are available in our country. It doesn't have any close competitors and serves as a niche product in our country.
