Mercedes-Benz introduced their latest entrant, the E 220 d of the E-Class fleet, at Rs 57.14 lakhs (ex-showroom Pune), and we decided to highlight a few things that deserve your attention about this three-star iteration.
Mercedes-Benz claims that the E-Class is their highest selling model for the Indian market, and the pricing for the E 220 d will ensure that it still remains an attractive proposition for buyers.
This is the first time that the 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel mill (codenamed OM654), that goes into the E 220 d, has been introduced in an Indian application. It is supposed to be a part of a new series of engines that sport the next generation diesel technology.Â
This motor is light, highly compact and more economical, even though it is more powerful than the earlier series of engines used in the E-Class. To break it up, the new E 220 d consumes about 13 percent less fuel and is lighter by 17 percent than its global predecessor.
Furthermore, thanks to the 'My Mercedes My Service' program, it offers a low ownership cost for the E 220 d at Rs 76,600. One can also avail of an extended warranty of up to six years under the 'Advanced Assurance Program' for another Rs 75,200.
