As part of the Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz has reiterated its plans to revive the Pullman moniker by 2016. In an interview with Autocar, Daimler chief Dieter Zetsche revealed that the car will be launched start at 2,00,000 EUR (Rs 1.69 crore) and reach up to 2,50,000 EUR (Rs 2.12 crore) for the fully-loaded model.
These prices when converted to Indian rupees does not incorporate the hefty import taxes which will escalate the prices by another 120 per cent approximately, making the Pullman available in India for close to Rs 4.9 crore. What you will get at this price point is a six meter long car, in a modified S-Class shell with an abundance of luxury inside. Mercedes-Benz believes that the Pullman will fill the void in the market created by the Maybach, while competing with the British ultra-luxury car manufacturer, Rolls Royce.
The introduction of the Pullman model is part of the portfolio expansion by Mercedes-Benz, which has already seen the introduction of the GLA-Class and will soon followed by the S-Class coupe and convertible models. The Pullman though sits below the other S-Class variants in the pecking oder, implying that a production run will be available only towards 2016. So if you intend to get considerably richer in the next three-four years, you know what to buy, that will let the wold know of your new found wealth.
