The final piece in the MFA puzzle has been revealed by Mercedes-Benz online. Yes, we are talking about the CLA-Class estate, which, after many months of spy shots (from the UAE) has been revealed in standard and AMG- spec form.
The CLA Estate or Shooting Brake as it is called in Europe follows the same formula as its siblings. The overall design is common throughout as expected but thanks to the added space behind it now gets extra 25-litres of space in addition to the CLA’s already cavernous 495-litre boot space. The rear seats can be can be raked into a cargo position to increase the space to 595-litres while folding them down pushes the internal room to 1,345-litres.
In terms of design the cabin looks exactly the same as the sedan which in turn looks like the cabin of the hatchback. The feature list is exactly the same as the CLA sedan right down to the option of fabric on the seats.
The CLA-Class Estate is being offered in four variants - CLA 180, CLA 200, CLA 250 and CLA 250 4MATIC . The entire engine range is four-cylinder units which produce 122bhp/200Nm, 156bhp/250Nm and 211bhp/350Nm respectively. Mercedes-Benz has not revealed the gearboxes but like the CLA sedan will get the 7G-TRONIC AT gearbox.
Wanting to round off things with a bang, Mercedes-Benz has also revealed the CLA45 AMG Estate which like the A45AMG and CLA45 AMG is powered by a 2.0-litre four-pot motor producing 335bhp and 450Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT gearbox and the German automaker’s 4MATIC technology.
The CLA-Class Estate will be launched in January and deliveries will begin in March. We in India will not get this model any time soon as there is no demand for estate cars in India.
