The Mercedes-Benz CLA has been caught testing near Budapest, Hungary covered in partial camouflage. Based on the Mercedes Benz Modular Front Wheel Architecture (MFA), the CLA is a essentially a sedan version of the successful A-Class, a model that has already got 70,000 bookings in Europe.
The CLA shares a common front with the new A-Class. However, at the rear its looks very similar to the CLS due to its large boot and quad exhaust design. Some reports have even dubbed this car the ‘baby CLS’. The CLA will most likely be offered with petrol or a diesel engine powering the front wheels. Mercedes-Benz might also include an AMG spec 2.0-litre turbo petrol which produces 350bhp.
The car is likely to be unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show and will go on sale at the end of next year. It is sure to come to India and will be a part of the German automakers five car sub-Rs 25 lakh range which it plan to release over the next five years.
