Pictures of the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG have flooded the internet ahead of its debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show which is slated to begin next week. Like its hatchback sibling, the A45 AMG the CLA 45 AMG follows the same formula, standard four-door car coupled with the AMG engineering and this has resulted incredibly fast and rather good looking modern three-pointed star.
The CLA 45 has all the AMG cues that give it its unique look; AMG spec body kit, large black alloy wheels (complete with clichéd big red brake callipers) as well as rectangular quad exhausts. The interiors are pretty much similar to what we saw on the A45 AMG and this includes the usual Mercedes-Benz toys and luxuries as well as the AMG specific seats, instrument cluster and red seatbelts.
The baby CLS AMG will use the same mill that sits in the A45 AMG, a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged mill producing 360bhp and 450Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a seven-speed automatic dual clutch gearbox and like the A45 we expect that this car too will use the German automakers patented 4matic four-wheel drive system.
We also expect performance upgrades like a new exhaust system, revised springs and dampers, and various aerodynamic extras found on the A45 to make their way here. It is also likely to get the SLS AMG derived cooling system. The CLA 45 AMG will sit on top of the CLA range and is sure to arrive at our shores a little while after the CLA is launched for the Indian market.
