After the sedan and the coupe version, Mercedes has taken the wraps off the convertible built at Affalterbach. The new C63 AMG Cabriolet is on display at the New York Auto Show and will go on sale later this year.
Like the other two, the Cabriolet also uses the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 469bhp and 503bhp in the standard and the S version, respectively. It is the slowest of the new generation C63s – the S Cabriolet gets to 100kmph in 4.1 seconds, while the standard is another tenth of a second slower at 4.2 seconds. The top-speeds are the same – the standard trim is restricted to 250kmph, whereas the S can do 280kmph.
The canvas top takes 20 seconds to fold or be back in place and can be operated up to the speed of around 30kmph. It has a large boot, which offers 355 litres of space even when the roof is folded and occupying a large part of it.
Mercedes offers the C63 AMG S coupe in India and will probably also sell the Cabriolet here, post its global launch. It will be imported to India as a CBU and will cost few thousand more than the S coupe, which has a price tag of Rs 1.30 crore.
