The 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class LWB was spotted ahead of its debut at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. It is basically an extended version of the standard C-Class sedan and is only made for the Chinese market. It will be sold in addition to the standard wheel base 2016 C-Class both of which will make their debut at the motor show.
The 2016 C-Class L is very similar to the current model which has been on sale since August 2014.
It continues the same design and will be available in two versions; standard sedan and sport sedan which is basically the Avantagarde version. The only major addition to the C-Class L is an ‘L’ motif on the C-pillar. In addition to the locally made C-Class L, Mercedes-Benz will also begin local assembly of the standard C-Class for the Chinese market. It was only available as a CBU until this point.
The 2016 C-Class L and standard C-Class will also debut the C300 variant which makes use of the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine from the other models but is now tuned to produce 245bhp.
We in India got the C-Class in November 2014 but in the standard wheelbase version. We believe that this concept of extended wheelbase for luxury cars will work in India as we share many similarities with Chinese car buyers.
