The current generation B-Class has been around since 2011 without any major updates whatsoever. It is natural then that it needs a bit of revamping to match up with the times as BMW has just added the 2 Series Active Tourer to its lineup.
Mercedes is working on a facelift for its B-Class and Auto Express has caught the premium MPV on test in the mountains of Southern Europe. Going by the spy images of the test vehicle wearing light camouflage, we expect minor design revisions instead of a comprehensive upgrade. At the front, the MPV is likely to get more angular headlights, a redesigned lower bumper and bigger air intakes.
While the interior, too, will remain largely the same as the existing model, the B-Class will benefit from new in-car tech and receive additional features as standard. Since the B-Class is based on Mercedes’ MFA platform, it is advanced enough and does not really need any mechanical updates just yet; having said that, the automaker could improve efficiency and performance slightly for this upcoming model.
The B-Class facelift is expected to debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, followed by a global launch later in the year. The car will compete against the recently introduced BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.
