After selling more than 350,000 units of the second generation B-Class, Mercedes-Benz has decided to update its premium MPV with a host of changes to the exterior and interior and more equipment. The brand has released the official photos of the B-Class facelift, ahead of the car’s public debut at the Paris Motor Show next month.
As far as design changes are concerned, the B-Class facelift gets a new bumper, a wider twin slat grille, and headlights with integrated daytime running lamps, giving the front-end a more dynamic appearance. The rear bumper has also been modified and now features a contoured covering and an additional chrome trim strip. The highlighting feature here is the optional LED High Performance headlamps which offer more safety at night due to their wide beam pattern and light, of a colour, similar to daylight.
Inside, the B-Class facelift features a larger display and revised instrument cluster. There is now a choice of 12 colours for the ambient lighting. Furthermore, there are three new trim levels: Style, Urban and AMG Line.
Underneath the upgraded exteriors, there’s a choice of four diesel and four petrol engine options and two models with the alternative drive system. Also available are a total of four variants with the all-wheel drive for improved traction and better high-speed stability. The all-wheel drive variants, however, will be restricted to cold weather countries and select markets.
Mercedes has announced that the sales of the B-Class facelift have begun today, with the public debut taking place during the Paris Motor Show next month. The brand has also announced the addition of the B200 Natural Gas Drive and the B-Class Electric Drive – both these models will be available from November 3 onwards.
Mercedes-Benz India, as of yet, has announced no plans of introducing the B-Class facelift which means the Indian market will continue to get the pre-facelift model for now; having said that, we expect the German carmaker to add this facelifted model to its India line-up soon.
