A Mercedes-Benz B –Class electric drive has been spotted doing cold weather testing in Sweden. This is basically a test version of the same concept car (in a brilliant electric blue) that was unveiled by the German Automaker at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
If we are to go by the concept car, then this will be a brilliant machine. It is powered 100kW (134bhp) electric motor which frugally sips pulses of charge from a lithium-ion battery pack designed and made by Tesla Motors, the American EV maker responsible for the Tesla Roadster.
A report from Autoblog says the electric motor can push the car up to 150kmph and run for a distance of close to 200 kilometres. Apart from the electric motor, we can expect that Mercedes-Benz will fit the EV with all the luxuries and toys both inside and outside that are standard on the normal B-Class.
Mercedes-Benz is likely to launch the vehicle both in Europe and America sometime in 2014 with a slightly higher price tag over the normal B-Class. If we are to go by this development, then there is a possibility that Mercedes-Benz A-Class E-cell might also become a full production vehicle.
