Mercedes-Benz has added the A-Class A 200 CDI to its lineup in India and has priced it at Rs 26.95 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). It used the same 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine from the A 180 CDI but is now in a higher state of tune.
There are no changes in terms of external design apart from the different badging. It is the same story on the inside wit the entire feature list being picked up from the Edition-1 and being made as standard. On the engine front, the A 200 CDI continues with the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel that now produces 134bhp and 300Nm of torque as compared to the B180 CDI’s 107bhp and 250Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT.
The German automaker is likely to begin local assembly of the GLA and CLA for the Indian market. Both these vehicles make use of the 2.2-litre diesel engine and it only seemed obvious to standardise them across all the MFA models being sold in India.
