Mercedes-AMG is planning to unveil their GT4 concept saloon at the Geneva Motor Show next month to celebrate their 50th anniversary celebrations.
Sources have told reporters that the GT4 concept looks similar to the five-door Mercedes-AMG GT coupe. The GT4 concept is expected to be underpinned by the rear-wheel-drive, front-engine MRA platform that Mercedes uses for the current line-up that comprises of the C-Class all the way to the S-Class.
Under the hood of the GT4 is the AMG 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine that is believed to be mated to a 48V electrical system with a small electric motor, and an AWD system with drift mode. The GT4 is also claimed to incorporate a larger amount of lightweight materials like high-strength steel and aluminium.
Reports state that the GT4 is expected to replace the CLS Shooting Brake and is due to hit showrooms in 2018. It will take on the likes of the BMW 6 Series Grand Coupe, Audi A7, and Porsche’s Panamera. Stay tuned to CarWale for more information regarding the Mercedes-AMG GT4.
