- Project delayed by nine months
- Delays caused due to adjustments on the car's powertrain
We recently wrote about the Mercedes-AMG finally christening their upcoming hypercar as the One with deliveries expected to begin early next year. However, customers itching to get their hands on the One will have to wait a little longer owing to delays.
The One promised to bring F1 technology on the road thanks to its engine which actually does duty in Mercedes-AMG's multiple championship-winning F1 cars. Being a highly ambitious project, it has been difficult according to Mercedes-AMG.
The delays are mostly related to the powertrain which needs adjustment. A simple example being, the F1 engine in the racecar can happily idle at 5000 rpm, however thanks to emission regulations, the road-going car needs to idle at 1200 rpm. Mercedes might get additional help from outside in a bid to reduce the delays, however they are behind by nine months. The customers have been informed about the delay as well.
The One makes over 1000bhp and can rev to a dizzying 11,000 rpm. Just 275 Mercedes-AMG One’s will make it into production making it one of the most exclusive hypercars on the road.
