Mercedes-Benz India recently launched two new sports cars. The track-focused AMG GT R priced at Rs 2.23 crores (ex-showroom, India) and its sibling, the AMG GT Roadster priced at Rs 2.19 crores. Sure, the Mercedes GT R was the highlight that day for becoming the fastest production car at the Buddh International Circuit. However, it would be a pity not to give this gorgeous convertible your attention too.
This AMG GT Roadster is the open-top version of the AMG GT. It now joins the German carmaker's stable with the AMG GT S already on sale in India.
The roadster's styling is similar to the coupe. The front boasts of a new Panamericana grille and a slightly tweaked front bumper.
The GT Roadster rides on a choice of five-spoke or 10-spoke alloys. It gets 19-inch alloys in the front and 20-inch ones in the rear.
The sportscar features a carbon exterior package to save weight and add to the appeal. It comes equipped with ceramic brakes and an AMG sports suspension.
The main highlight, however, is the fabric folding roof. This soft top roof comes in three colour options and opens and closes in 11 seconds.
The convertible is also equipped with features like AIRSCARF. This is the latest technology from the Mercedes stable which uses vents in the headrests to maintain the optimum temperature.
The GT Roadster is powered by AMG's 3,982cc, twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This unit makes 469bhp of power and 630Nm of torque.
Mercedes-AMG claims that the Roadster can sprint from 0-100kmph in just four seconds and has top speed of 302kmph.
Like the GT R, the GT Roadster is also offered under the 'Designo' platform. This allows customers to personalise their cars.
