The highly anticipated launch of the Mercedes-AMG GT is rumoured to take place on September 9. The company has been testing the car quite a lot and has been teasing us with photos through its official website.
Mercedes and AMG have revealed most of the interiors through pictures and have also released a teaser video showcasing the sound of this AMG GT. The German manufacturer has already revealed the technical specifications of this upcoming car. It will be powered by a newly developed 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which will come in two states of tune. First version, labelled as GT-S, will produce 502 bhp and maximum torque of 650 Nm. Another version with just a GT tag will churn out 455bhp.
The AMG GT-S is estimated to do 0-100kmph in less than 3.9 seconds before topping out at 312kmph. It will ride on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped around in 265/35 front and 295/30 rear Michelin pilot super sport tyres or optional softer cup rubbers. GT-S buyers will be rewarded with an E-diff while the lesser GT will pack limited slip differential and 19-inch wheels for both axles.
The reveal we are talking about will be online, which will be followed by a public launch a month later at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Whether the SLS AMG replacer will be more successful, well, only time will tell.
