Mercedes-Benz showcased the all-new AMG GT 4-door Coupe to the world at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. After its first premiere, the German performance brand has continued testing the new performance sedan on the Nurburgring. Now, according to the carmaker’s annual report, the AMG GT 4-door Coupe will make its official debut in October this year.
The AMG GT 4-door Coupe is the first 4-door to be built ground-up in Affalterbach by the AMG. It is based on the AMG GT Coupe in terms of styling, powertrain and performance. Just like its little two-door sibling, the 4-door Coupe is built with the sole purpose of going fast and looks that part as well. It gets the iconic vertically slatted Panamericana grille, muscular bonnet creases, a large air dam, flared wheel arches and a sloping roofline which gives it the finesse of a coupe.
On the inside, things are sporty as well as luxurious as expected from an AMG. The entire cabin is wrapped in the exotic materials like carbon fibre, brushed aluminium and Alcantara. It gets the latest MBUX infotainment system as well. The seats at the rear are strictly for two.
When it arrives, the AMG GT 4-door Coupe will get two engine options mated to the nine-speed automatic gearbox and 4Matic all-wheel-drive. The 4.0-litre twin turbocharged V8 from the coupe will produce 630bhp of power for the 63S and 577bhp for the standard 63. Apart from that, a new generation 3.0-litre straight six petrol engine will be an ´affordable´ option with 429bhp in the GT53 guise.
The AMG GT 4-door Coupe aims to be a comfortable family grand-touring car. After its official debut in the European market, the Three-Pointed Star will surely bring the new 4-door Coupe to the Indian shore. It will go up against the Porsche Panamera and the likes.
