As part of the 50th anniversary celebration for the AMG, Mercedes-Benz will be launching the AMG GLC 43 Coupe in India tomorrow. Along with it being the second AMG with a coupe-styled SUV body to be introduced in India, it also brings the total count of AMG models in India to 10. Originally coming from the SUV family, the Coupe version will carry forth some amount of bulk and muscular appeal from its older sibling.
The upcoming Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 with a coupe-styled SUV body will be the most powerful one to be offered with the GLC badge. The vehicle will be powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that will generate 362bhp of power and 520Nm of torque. The AMG spec 9G-Tronic transmission powers all four-wheels. The engine as well the transmission have been carried forth from the AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe. However, since the GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe is lighter, it is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds (0.8 seconds faster). The top speed has been electronically limited to 250kmph. The regular Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV is available in two engine options - 220 d 4MATIC and 300 4MATIC.
As the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe is more driver focused, the vehicle gets five driving modes - Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. Although the first four modes have been predefined, the Individual driving mode allows the driver to modify responses from the engine, suspension, transmission and the steering. The dashboard flaunts two large dials and a 5.5-inch central colour multifunction display. The premium upholstery is complemented by AMG logo stitched in the head rests, red seat belts and embossed door sill plates. The vehicle will also get AMG fonts and lettering on the instrument cluster.
As for design, the AMG GLC 43 Coupe gets a diamond radiator grille with chrome pins and a louvre in high-gloss black with insert in high-gloss chrome. Additionally, the front also gets the AMG lettering in high-gloss chrome on the front. Along with distinctive air-intakes, the vehicle also gets sporty bumpers. The rear gets a sharp spoiler lip and twin exhausts in chrome with a four-pipe look.
Once launched, the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe will compete against the likes of Audi S5 in India. Although the pricing aspect will only be revealed tomorrow, we believe it will be priced around Rs 80 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi). More details about the vehicle will be known after its launch in the country.
