Founded in 1967, Mercedes-AMG turned 50 years old in 2017. The German performance division kicked off the celebration of the 50th anniversary with the GT C Coupe ‘Edition 50’, showcased at Detroit Motor Show earlier this year. To further extend the golden jubilee occasion, Mercedes-AMG has added a three more cars to the exclusive Edition 50 series. The cars in question are – AMG GT C Roadster, the C63 Cabriolet and C63 S Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition, as well as the C43 4MATIC Coupe and C43 4MATIC Cabriolet Night Edition.
Starting with the GT C Roadster, the Edition 50 will be exclusively limited to 500 cars. There are two special paint finishes – designo graphite grey magno or designo cashmere white magno. Black chrome inserts on the side skirt, front splitter, on the rear diffuser and the exhaust tailpipe trim elements and on the trademark Panamericana grille. The AMG wheels get black chrome inserts as well. Interior gets Nappa leather in silver pearl/black with grey diamond-patterned contrasting topstitching, AMG Performance steering wheel in DINAMICA microfibre. The AMG Night package comes as standard.
On the C 63/C 63 S Cabriolet, which is restricted to just 150 units, the Ocean Blue Edition adds a new blue colour fabric soft top and the same colour finish on numerous other places in the car. The exclusive colour is added to the front bumper, rear diffuser, and wheel caps. The wheels are done in titanium grey, the interior gets a diamond quilting and deep ocean blue contrasting topstitching, the flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather is scrounged from the S63 Cabriolet. The standard addition includes AIRSCARF neck-level heating and climatised seats.
Moving on to the C43 4MATIC Coupe and Cabriolet Night Edition, there are black details added to the exterior. The trademark diamond radiator grille sports black dots, so does the front splitter, rear apron and the side skirts. The same treatment applies on the lip spoiler and exhaust pipe and high-sheen rim flanges on the alloys acts as a contrast.
The new Edition 50 cars will go on sale from March 6, with deliveries starting in June. No prices are announced yet, but we could see the examples of Edition 50 at the upcoming Geneva motor show.
