Lapping the notorious Nurburgring is speculated to be the most extreme version of the C63 AMG yet. After the beast of green hell, AMG GT R, the top variant of the C63 is dubious to be called the C63 R, since the hardcore version of the previous generation C63 was called the Black Series. But what’s sure is that this car is about to top the C63 S.
Seen sporting the Black Series-styled large rear spoiler atop the blacked out boot lid, it indicates a weight reduction attempt using carbonfibre for the boot lid on the production spec, along with several other lightweight components. The other visual changes include a more aggressive looking, aerodynamic body kit with a front splitter and an apparently lower ride height.
No details yet of what will be powering this mad car, but under the hood might be a further tuned version of the AMG unit in the already powerful C63 S. Expect the 4.0-litre, twin turbo V8 to make more than 510bhp, but a bit shy from AMG GT R’s 577bhp, sending power to rear wheels.
This version is about to lock horns with the track-focused BMW M4 GTS, which can lap the Nurburgring in about 7.28 seconds. We could expect some more details on this car at next year’s Geneva Motor Show.
