Mercedes-AMG, the performance division of Mercedes-Benz, is on a roll in India. After the launch of the AMG GLE 43 Coupe and the AMG SLC 43 this year, the carmaker has now launched the AMG C43 in India at Rs 74.3 lakh.
The Mercedes-AMG C43 is a performance version of the C-Class. That said, it looks similar to its sibling but gets a beefed up look. The external characteristics include a diamond-mesh grille, large alloy wheels, a special cladding, a rear spoiler and a performance exhaust. All of these elements make sure the C43 looks like a performance-oriented car.
The external appearance is backed up by purpose-built internals and a powerful engine. The car gets powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 mill that churns out 362bhp of power and 520Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The C43 also gets a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system that is 69 per cent rear biased. The 0-100kmph sprint is achieved in a remarkable 4.7 seconds, while reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
Another highlight on the Mercedes-AMG C43 is the multiple driving modes. These include a Sport Plus mode that sets the suspension to its stiffest setting and enables aggressive shift mapping. Then for more sedate driving, the Comfort mode enables lighter steering and a softer suspension. The car also gets a modified chassis and a sports suspension featuring AMG RIDE CONTROL and a rigid but light four-wheel multilink design. The vehicle also boasts of three-stage adaptive variable damping and AMG-developed springs, along with electronically controlled shock absorbers.
Knowing Mercedes-Benz, luxury is at its peak even with this car that is meant for outright performance. The AMG C43's introduction marks the 13th model launch in India this year. It competes with the BMW M4, Jaguar F-Type V6 and even the Audi TT in the sports sedan segment in India.
