- World’s most powerful four-cylinder engine
Mercedes-Benz has launched the C63 S E Performance in India with a starting price of Rs 1.95 crore (Ex-showroom). This is Mercedes's final AMG launch for this CY and their 14th launch of the year.
The party piece in the C63 is a 2.0-litre AMG turbo engine with an Electric Drive Unit (EDU) on the rear axle, delivering 680 bhp and 1,020 Nm, with a 0-100kmph time of 3.4 seconds. It gets a nine-speed AMG-tuned AT and a specially tuned 4MATIC+ AWD system as a part of the package. It also has an all-electric range of 13km.
If the numbers weren’t good enough, then the C63 now also gets a ‘Drift Mode’ and active rear-axle steering, both standard for the first time in the car. These features, combined with an electrically assisted exhaust turbocharger are expected to offer rapid torque build-up and exceptional agility.
It can’t be an AMG car without the fancy looks and thus you get design elements like the fascia, wheels and tail lamps. Inside, the luxurious sport seats upholstered in exclusive black Nappa leather provide a refined atmosphere, complemented by a sporty AMG Performance steering wheel and illuminated door sill trims. The advanced MBUX infotainment system with a head-up display elevates the driving experience.
The C63 is one of the legends when it comes to ‘smaller’ performance cars and has been a legend in India for well over 11 years now. However, this is the first time that the C63 has become a four-cylinder model with many of the previous iterations sporting large V8 engines. We will be driving the car later this week and if you have any questions for us, do reach out on our social media handles.
