Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the A45 Petronas 2015 World Champion Edition ahead of its public debut at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The car is a special edition of the A45 hatchback to celebrate the company's F1 team's win at the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship.
The cosmetic changes are in line with the racing colours of Mercedes-AMG's Formula 1 team. This includes a silver and turquoise paint scheme, called the 'petrol green' livery. Apart from this, the car also gets a bigger front splitter, 19-inch titanium grey alloy wheels with green accents and a rear mounted roof spoiler.
The same treatment is carried over into the cabin of the car with the interior featuring the turquoise and silver colours. The dashboard is detailed in this colour code and the seats also get stripes and stitching in the same fashion.
The powertrain for the special edition remains the same as the one powering the standard A45 AMG. The 2.0-litre four cylinder turbocharged petrol mill produces 381bhp of power and 475Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with quick shift tech. Power is sent to all the wheels through the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and the car does the 0-100kmph sprint in just 4.2 seconds.
The Mercedes-AMG A45 Petronas edition will be available in three base colours - polar silver metallic, designo mountain grey magno and mountain grey metallic. It is expected to go on sale in the European market next year.
