Mercedes might launch a more powerful variant of the A45 AMG this year to take on the Audi RS3. This model might also get refreshed styling and we also expect the A-Class to also get a minor makeover like the facelifted B-Class.
Mercedes still holds the claim for extracting most horses from a series production 2.0-litre petrol engine rated at 355bhp. But, the Audi RS3 Sportback with 362bhp beat it to claim the world’s most powerful hatchback claim by about 7 additional horses.
It seems like Mercedes wants to win back that claim as confirmed by Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers.
While they haven’t indicated at the power bump, but there are rumours that the A45 AMG might get about 375bhp. These are still early days to predict the numbers and we expect it to better the current car in terms of acceleration as the top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.
The new car might not be radically re-styled, but expect detailing to change, as rumoured the A45 AMG might get a unique grille. Mercedes has announced 15 for 15, which in their terminology means they will launch 15 cars this year. We expect the refreshed A45 AMG to be made available this year immediately after its global launch.
