McLaren has unveiled the Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo Sport for the new PS4-only Gran Turismo video game. It is a vision where they aim to take their cars in the future and will be available in the latest version when it releases on 17 October.
Given that there are no limits in video games, the exterior design is unlike anything we have seen from McLaren before. There are heavily flared wheel arches, aerodynamic bits and a slender rear mid-set single seat racecar cabin.
However, even with so many futurisms, we can still see the McLaren family connection thanks to the shape of the head lamps which closely resemble the ones found on the 720S. This is expected to be their signature style even in the future.
The cabin, visible in the design, is a single seat affair. There is a large glass canopy cover over the driver and all bits and connections are naked and made of carbon fibre. The entire instrument cluster is virtual and beamed onto the glass for the driver to see.
This Ultimate Vision GT is powered by a hybrid powertrain. This is divided into a 4.0-litre McLaren spec V8 powering the rear wheels while the front wheels get electric motors. The total output- 1150bhp/1275Nm!
The car was created in response to a call from Gran Tursimo’s creator Kazunori Yamauchi. It will be available in three liveries designed specifically for this version of the Gran Turismo game. They are Performance, Ulterior and Noir.
