Last month, British sportscar maker McLaren had announced that it will make a track-only version of the groundbreaking P1. Now, the brand has released an official sketch of this extreme new model which will be called the P1 GTR. What’s also now official is that the car will make its public debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in concept form.
The P1 GTR will go into production in June 2015 when the 375th and final example of the standard P1 has been made. When put on sale exclusively for P1 owners, the hardcore P1 GTR will be the most track-focused vehicle from McLaren till date.
To be designed and developed solely for optimum performance on a race track, the P1 GTR, like the legendary F1 GTR, will boast of an aggressive aero package, a wider track, race-bred slick tyres. This means performance, grip and downforce will be on a different level compared to the road-going version of the P1.
