It’s a problem that anyone who can afford to buy a hypercar will always have- How do I get one if there is a limited production run which is less than 400 units and it is all booked out? The solution is quite simple, either be ready to shell out more than you can ever imagine and entice the manufacturer to produce one specially for you or accept that you can’t have one. It seems the latter will be the case with the McLaren P1. A Dutch website has said the Woking-based manufacturer has filled up its order books for the hypercar and will stop production once the current lot is completed.
The McLaren P1 is based on the British manufacturer’s MP4-12C supercar and uses the same engine, though in a higher state of tune. It is powered by a twin turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 mill that produces 717bhp and 900NM of torque. This being the age of all things green, the P1 also has an electric motor which produces an additional 173bhp and hence taking the total power of the P1 to 890bhp.
It’s been a fabulous year for hypercars as we have been witness to the launch and unveiling of over five such beauties in a span of just six months. The Lamborghini Veneno, Ferrari LaFerrari, Lykan Hypersport, McLaren P1 and the Pagani Huayra are just some of the cars we can name in this list.
Oh! and we would like to mention that for most of these vehicles, ownership is only on an invite basis. This means you could have the money to buy the car but if you do not fit the automaker’s requirements, then you will not be given an opportunity to buy the vehicle.
