Now that McLaren has started making the new 650S at its production facility in England, the brand has released performance numbers and official pricing, ahead of the car’s global debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
According to McLaren, the 650S can accelerate from zero to 100kmph in just three seconds, and can hit 200kmph in just 8.4 seconds. The brand has done really well to make the 650S quicker than the 12C which in itself is a mind numbingly fast supercar. Interestingly, the new 650S is a full second quicker than the legendary McLaren F1 to 200kmph.
The new 650S gets carbon ceramic brakes, lightweight alloy wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres and a cabin trimmed in Alcantara. Options list, on the other hand, includes fixed-back carbon racing seats, based on the lightweight design found in the flagship P1 hypercar, a rear parking camera and lots of carbon fibre bits throughout the interior.
McLaren has priced the 650S at £195,250 (Rs 2.02 crore), with the 650S Spider costing £215,250 (Rs 2.22 crore), making the car more expensive than the 12C on which it is based.
