- Bespoke McLaren 675LT produced in 1,000-hour project
- Tribute to the 1997 Gulf-Davidoff GTC team McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’
- Personalised exterior and interior detailing
McLaren Special Operations (MSO) Bespoke commission has delivered a personalised McLaren 675LT. The MSO Bespoke team has further added value to the already special car, 675LT, with striking Gulf Racing exterior colour scheme as a tribute to the 1997 Gulf-Davidoff GTC team McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’. The bespoke model sits on unique 20-spoke wheels with extraordinary cabin finish and special components to distinguish it from the standard model. The MSO team has invested around 1,000 hours for its development.
Back in the 1990’s, the McLaren F1 GTRs were strong contenders in endurance racing and have won the 1996 BPR Global Endurance Series and the GT1 Class at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1997. Based on customers’ briefing, the MSO had created a famous racing livery with personalised and bespoke features. The MSO team had to also enter into an agreement with Gulf Oil International Ltd to use the famous racing livery colours.
Speaking on the occasion, Ansar Ali, Managing Director, McLaren Special Operations, said, “Creating a car like this unique McLaren 675LT, crafted to individual customer specification, is exactly the type of demanding commission that MSO Bespoke was formed to embrace. Transforming the existing car from its original single colour paintwork to a tribute to the McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ in Gulf Racing livery was incredibly demanding in its own right, but was only part of the brief; we also replaced numerous standard 675LT components with MSO parts and further personalised the car to clearly identify it with its owner, a service that an increasing number of MSO customers request.”
Step inside and one will notice MSO Bespoke racing seats finished in carbon black alcantara with orange and blue contrast stitching and the initials of the owner on the seat. In fact, this time embroidered in blue on the headrest. The seat belts are from the MSO Defined range and are orange in colour. The vent bezel surrounds and the stop/start button are in Gulf Orange and the powertrain bezels on the Active Dynamics Panel are finished in gulf blue. The twin-turbocharged McLaren V8 engine generates 656bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. The vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 2.9 seconds and attains a maximum speed of 330kmph.
