Maserati may officially open its first dealership in India. It was earlier being sold alongside Ferrari’s cars but will now sell through its own dealership, the first of which will open in Mumbai. A report from Autocar suggests that it will be located near the domestic airport and be run by the Ahmedabad-based Group Planet Petal.
The famed Italian luxury automaker will be a part of the Fiat and Alfa subgroup rather than under Ferrari and sell alongside the soon to be launched Abarth moniker. It is expected to lead its charge with the latest version of the Quattroporte. It is expected to be offered with petrol and diesel engines where the former will be in two states of tune- a 530bhp V8 and a 404bhp twin turbo V6 while the latter is a 271bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel.
It is also expected to offer the Granturismo GT as well as the new Ghibli sports sedan. The latter gets the same engine line up from the Quattroporte. They will mostly see their volumes from the Levante SUV which will enter production next year and is likely to be launched in India within six months of its European debut.
Fiat seems to be going full steam with its plans for India. The arrival of Maserati alongside Abarth is a sign that Fiat sees luxury and sporting potential in India.
