Maserati announced its plans of making the Levante crossover last year. The announcement, in fact, was made by Harald Wester, the Chief Executive of Maserati. Now it seems the development of the crossover is well underway as patent drawings have started appearing on the web.
The Levante is expected to come with a range of engines including a V6 and a high-performance V8 petrol. The crossover could also use the brand’s 3-litre V6 diesel unit.
Not many details are out on the Levante yet although we do know that Maserati will be looking to compete with Porsche and BMW with its forthcoming luxurious and sporty challenger in the premium crossover segment. The Italian sports car maker will officially bring the Levante crossover at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
