We last heard of the Maserati Levante back in May this year when official patent drawings appeared on the web. Now though, the crossover has been spotted on test in Italy wearing the production body shell.
The Levante echoes the Kubang concept but features a different front-end design with restyled headlights and fog lights. The rear-end, meanwhile, has also been revised with new taillights and a more conventional looking tailgate.
The Levante is expected to come with a range of engines including a V6 and a high-performance V8 petrol. While the V6 units will produce anywhere between 350bhp and 425bhp, the V8 motor will boast of as much as 550bhp of power. Besides these, there will also be an economical diesel option.
Not many details are out on the Levante yet, although we do know that Maserati will be looking to compete with Porsche and BMW with its forthcoming luxurious and sporty challenger in the premium crossover segment. The Levante crossover is expected to be revealed at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
